In the Indian Premier League, Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has pulled out of the ongoing tournament and will undergo surgery due to an injury. In a social media post, the Indian cricketer informed his fans that he will not participate in the remaining matches of the IPL or the World Test Championship to be held next month. Rahul’s father-in-law Sunil Shetty has reacted to this news. Expressing his best wishes for Rahul’s surgery, he also said that his absence from the WTC will provide an opportunity to other players to showcase their skills.

In a conversation with ETimes, Shetty said, “Indian team has an amazing bunch of cricketers. He has good bench strength. I think this is an opportunity for another player to reach the WTC finals and shine. No player is bigger than the game.”
Rahul suffered the injury while fielding during the IPL 2023 match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. “After careful consideration and consultation with the medical team, it has been concluded that I will be undergoing surgery on my thigh shortly. My focus will be on my rehabilitation and recovery in the coming weeks. This has been a difficult decision, but I know that This is correct to ensure full recovery.
India’s squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in June has seen a change with Ishan Kishan replacing the injured KL Rahul.
